Position Summary and Responsibilities Reporting to the Associate Vice President of Human Resources, the Associate Director of Human Resources assists the Associate Vice President of Human Resources in the development, implementation and administration of a comprehensive HR program and policies and procedures that support the College. The Associate Director of Human Resources will provide backup and support of all HR operations and departmental functions.

Responsibilities:
  • Implementation of the HR Training and Professional Development program for administrators and staff consistent with the program design;
  • Analyze compensation survey data and internal comparisons to provide salary recommendations;
  • Advise on CUPA compensation parameters and complete HR and compensation surveys;
  • Classification analysis of responsibilities for non-faculty positions;
  • Maintain clerical staff skills based compensation system and advise managers on the tier matrix process;
  • Support managers in areas of employee relations, performance management, conflict resolution, employment development, and positive management techniques;
  • Interpret and apply all collective bargaining agreements.
    Participation in contract negotiations as requested by AVP;
  • Supervision of two administrative positions;
  • Some travel required for specialized training;
  • Other duties as assigned.


Qualifications
Qualifications: Bachelor's degree required, Master's degree in human resources, labor relations, industrial psychology or other relevant discipline preferred; A minimum of seven to ten years' of experience of increasing progressive responsibility in a HR environment. This includes three to five years' of experience of supervision of professional and support staff with a positive and reinforcing management style; Three to five years' experience with the development and management of specific HR systems; Five years' experience working in a union environment as a high level decision maker; Ability to review, interpret and comply applicable state, federal employment, labor, disability, discrimination laws and regulations; Have demonstrated excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills including strong listening skills; Have demonstrated experience in presenting information to high level and lower level employees and diverse populations in a congenial, comprehensive format; Proficiency in computer applications, including Microsoft Office Suite and adeptness in learning new programs. Have working knowledge of a complex HRIS system; Demonstrated ability to problem solve in complex administrative systems with the ability to deal with stressful situations in a calm, professional and productive manner; Attention to detail in all work areas and the ability to maintain the strictest confidentiality.
