About the Role:
University of Nevada, Reno seeks professional, collaborative candidates with strong analytical and problem-solving skills for the Specialist / Manager of Benefits. This role is part of the Business Center North (BCN) and supports the employee benefit needs of the six organizations with the Northern Nevada System of Higher Education (NSHE) through a shared services model. This position is located on the University of Nevada, Reno campus.
About Business Center North:
Business Center North provides shared human resource services to all current, future, and former employees across campuses in Northern Nevada including:
- University of Nevada, Reno
- Truckee Meadows Community College
- Western Nevada College
- Great Basin College
- Desert Research Institute
- NSHE System Administration
Responsibilities:
- Benefits Coordination: Oversee new hire eligibility and benefit enrollments, faculty retirement plan administration, Public Employee Retirement System (PERS) program compliance and documentation, deferred compensation enrollments and other ancillary and voluntary benefit programs for faculty, staff and students.
- Vendor and Committee Liaison: Act as the designated officer for Northern Nevada campuses concerning vendor-related inquiries and approvals. Serve as the primary contact with various committees and vendors.
- Team Leadership: Lead a team responsible for benefits orientation, retirement counseling and reconciliations.
- Manager Level Additional Duties: If applying for the Manager level, manage key relationships with PEBP, PERS, RPA, NSHE and BCN campuses. Bring prior supervision experience and a broad range of experience with medical, retirement and voluntary benefit plans.
The ideal candidate will have a strong background in benefits administration, retirement planning, and customer service, with the ability to manage complex issues and communicate effectively with diverse stakeholders.

Required Qualifications
Specialist, Benefits
High School Graduation four (4) years; OR
60-College Credits and three (3) years; OR
Bachelor's Degree and two (2) years; OR
Master's Degree and one (1) year of related work experience.
Related Experience: Employee benefits, human resources or related field.
Manager, Benefits
Bachelor's Degree and four (4) years; OR
Master's Degree and two (2) years of professional work experience.
Related Experience: Employee benefits, human resources or related field.

Grants-in-aid for Faculty Employees
The University is proud to provide a reduced-rate tuition benefit to faculty and qualified dependents. Faculty can take up to six credits per semester at a reduced rate. Dependents of faculty have unlimited credits, but in order to be eligible children must be unmarried and under the age of 24 and must receive at least 50% of their financial support from the employee and/or employee's spouse or domestic partner.
